Frequently Asked Questions
What is coaching?
The type of coaching that I practice is first and foremost a partnership. The International Coaching Federation, the world’s premier body for credentialing professional coaches (and my credentialing body), defines coaching as:
‘… partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.’
A professional coach is not a mentor, consultant, therapist, or advisor. I don’t have your answers, but what I do have is some really good questions that help you discover your own answers. I’m not the expert in you — you are! This doesn’t mean that I don’t have a ton of knowledge, insights, observations, hacks and skills which might be of value to you. I am happy to share these with you, when they’re appropriate. But I still don’t have your answers!
A professional coach is a partner in service of your change, growth, development and towards maximizing your potential. I am interested in helping you to craft your own strategies for learning, growth and change and then supporting you to make those happen.
A professional coach will focus on forward momentum via action. I am interested in taking you from an unfulfilled or “stuck” place in life, helping you determine your ideal self and way of being, guiding your discovery of your full potential, then creating strategies that work for you to get there.
Who do I coach?
If you are motivated, committed, willing and ready to do what it takes to live the life you truly want, then you are who I coach. (Even if you’re not entirely sure what that looks like yet.) Key themes I explore with clients include change, transformation, personal and professional life optimization.
How Do I Coach?
We start off by figuring out where we want to end up and how things will be different when we get there. Clarity is key!
Together, we explore why we’ve chosen this destination and what it is in service of. (Society tends to influence us all by telling us we need to do or achieve certain things in life. We also tend to set a life goal or dream without really knowing why we even want it.) If our goals don’t serve us and bring us joy, when we achieve them they won’t bring us the satisfaction we want or need.
Great coaching should always be about good clear directions and measurable outcomes.
My coaching is a developmental style, meaning I help you clarify what needs to be built, learned and developed, and then we craft strategies and actions to make sure it becomes concrete and real in your life. This way you become an upgraded version of yourself and you learn how to continue the process all on your own. This is called ‘self-actualizing’.
Great coaching should make you self-sufficient – not dependent!
A key part of the process is accessing and cultivating presence. Similar to mindfulness, presence is the capacity to be fully present in the moment and it is life changing.
Presence: A quality of experience which comes online when we intentionally shift awareness from our typical ‘head-orientation’ into a way of being which is embodied, connected, centered and grounded in the moment. When we do so, so much more becomes available to us: More intelligence, more insight, more choice, far greater wisdom.
Presence is a quality which is the basis for the coach training methodologies I’ve learned and is a game-changer for revealing and unlocking our greatest creativity, wisdom and potential. I’ll support you in developing it and integrating it into your personal toolkit.
There’s plenty more unique tools which I’ve integrated into my process that I learned from my Yoga Teacher Michelle Young of My Vinyasa Practice and from the Human Potential Institute’s coaching programs Co-Creators Rod Francis, medical director Dr. Mark Atkinson, and leading biohacker and author Dave Asprey.
Great coaching should leave you ready to take on life’s challenges.
How do I get started?
To get started you can either schedule an introduction call through the online booking system or (if you don’t see a time that works for you) you can send a message about your interest and your availability.
The first call will be a 30-45 minute introduction call over Zoom. This will be our opportunity to get to know each other and talk about what you hope to achieve.
Once we’ve decided that we are a good fit and that I can help you achieve your goals, we will decide on a timeline.
Typical coaching engagements last from 6 sessions to 6 months depending on how often we meet and what you are trying to achieve.
We will then schedule a regular cadence to meet (about every 2 weeks).
What's the investment?
Your investment will vary based on the goals you want to achieve and the timeline required.
To give you an idea, a typical coaching engagement includes:
+ Six 1 Hour Sessions | $1500
+ Additional Check-ins | $175 each
“There is no more profitable investment than investing in yourself. It is the best investment you can make; you can never go wrong with it. It is the true way to improve yourself to be the best version of you and lets you be able to best serve those around you.”
